It took its
name from the old monument "The Triumph" ("El
Triunfo") (situated today in the central part of the
temple) which was built to remember the miracle of the descent
of the Virgin in the Sunturwasi (princess house).
It holds seven altarpieces of baroque and neoclassic style.
The main altarpiece stands out with its majestic presence,
made of golden stones and edge of gold of 22 carats, and one
of "plateresco" style that was part of the primitive
cathedral of Cusco.
In addition, we can appreciate the figure of a Christ made
of indigenous fabrics pasted in corn flour and potatoes. |

In the upper box of the
main altarpiece it is exposed the Cross of the Conquest ("Cruz
de la Conquista"), brought by father Fray Vicente de
Valverde, which was the first cross to be brought to South
America. Furthermore, in the lower box you can find the image
of the Virgin of the Descent.
La visita a este templo forma parte del tour a la Catedral
y al Templo
de La Sagrada Familia. |
